India has a “serious” hunger problem and ranks 100th out of 119 countries on the global hunger index — behind North Korea, Bangladesh and Iraq but ahead of Pakistan, according to a report.
The country’s serious hunger level is driven by high child malnutrition and underlines need for stronger commitment to the social sector, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) said in its report.
“India is ranked 100th out of 119 countries, and has the third highest hunger score in all of Asia — only Afghanistan and Pakistan are ranked worse,” IFPRI said in a statement.
As per the report, India ranks below many of its neighbouring countries such as China (29th rank), Nepal (72), Myanmar (77), Sri Lank (84) and Bangladesh (88). It is ahead of Pakistan (106) and Afghanistan (107)

Milk—Mohan Singh Ahluwalia, member, Animal Welfare Board of India said on 5th of september 2018 wed in Ludhiana. The most common adulterants are detergent, caustic soda, glucose, white paint and refined oil.
"The state of adulteration in milk and milk products in the country is such that 68.7 per cent of milk and milk products sold is not as per the standards laid down by the FSSAI,” he said.
Quoting a report by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr Ahluwalia said 89.2 per cent of such products are adulterated in one form or the other
He said the production of milk in the country up to March 31, 2018 has been registered at 14.68 crore litres per day against the consumption of 480 grams per capita per day.
The member was chairing a meeting of heads of different departments in Ludhiana.

“However, detergent and other contaminants like urea, starch, glucose and formalin are also used to deliberately adulterate milk as they provide thickness and preserve the milk for longer periods,” he said.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) had recently issued an advisory to the Government of India stating that if adulteration of milk and milk products is not checked immediately, 87 per cent of citizens would be suffering from serious diseases like cancer by the year 2025

Shelter—An interesting statistic thrown up by the 2011 census reveals that there are 1.77 million homeless in india.independent agencies claim the number to be double .
The number is surely more because It is difficult to get an accurate picture of homelessness as census data is typically collected keeping the household in mind and the definitions of homelessness vary from one place to another. While most census data takes into account those living in shelters and/or receiving government aid, it becomes difficult for census takers to keep track of the “hidden homeless”. People who fall in this category may be residing in inadequate settlements such as slums, squatting in structures not intended for housing, couch surfing with friends and family, and those who relocate frequently.
The 2011 census also reveals that there were 28 percent less homeless people from rural areas as compared to the figures for 2001. The corresponding number of homeless people in urban areas however showed an increase of around 20 percent.wich only confirms that people from rural areas are migrating to cities  putting strain on resources and making them more shabby, dirty and even crimeprone.
The state of Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of homeless households (72,452) according to the 2011 census, while the state of Jharkhand showed the highest percentage increase in the number of such households when compared to the numbers of the previous census (139.19 percent).
As per the 2011 census, the Kanpur Nagar district of central Uttar Pradesh has the highest rate of homelessness in the country. More than 18 people in a thousand are homeless there. Kolkata, with more than 15 homeless people in a thousand ranks second and the district of Central Delhi – in the National Capital Territory of Delhi – comes at the third spot. The industrial hub of Mumbai, which has more than 12 people in a thousand population homeless, ranks fourth.

“A 10% increase in GDP now results in less than 1% increase in employment,” says the study.
This shortage of jobs is compounded by depressed wages, with 82% of men and 92% of women earning less than Rs 10,000 per month.with income in the villages for a household being even less or around 5000 Rs per month

Indonesia is at 96th  and  pakistan at 117th position
The best being new zealand on 1st Denmark 2nd finland 3rd norway 4th and switzerland  on  5th position of Least Corrupt Countries

The index assessed the risk of disaster in 171 countries through the combined analysis of natural hazards and societal vulnerabilities. The index is part of the World Risk Report 2016 released by the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security. Qatar is at least risk and vanuatu at the highest risk
National disaster risk index mapping hazards and vulnerabilities
across 640 districts puts Maharashtra at the top of the chart followed by West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, while Delhi is most at risk among Union territories (UTs).
At first glance, the lower hazard ranking to states like those in the north-east and
others like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, which are prone to earthquakes or floods, seems surprising but the index takes into account economic vulnerabilities and actions taken to mitigate risk.
Hence India needs to do a Lot to bring it into the safe zone or first 50 countries
